Watch out! You might run into a famous ghost in Los Angeles.

It’s an understatement to say that Los Angeles has a deep history of paranormal activity. Hollywood stars have actually made spooky tales part of their culture. Take a look at these five horror hotspots in Los Angeles County and the deceased actors and actresses believed to haunt them.

The Hollywoodland Sign

One of the most iconic signs in Los Angeles County is the Hollywoodland sign. People see it as a symbol of hope for a career in the movies. The sign is also associated with paranormal activity, though. Sightings of Marilyn Monroe's ghost have been reported here. The ghost of the young actress Peg Entwistle, who committed suicide by jumping off the sign, has also been spotted in the area.

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery

This is the cemetery where the rich and the famous of Los Angeles are buried. It is the resting place of famous celebrities such as Mickey Rooney, Nelson Eddy, Rudolph Valentino, Tyrone Power, Janet Gaynor, and Peter Lorre. Sightings of Rudolph Valentino have been reported near his crypt. The ghost of Ditra Flame, who visited his crypt every year until she died, is also frequently spotted around the anniversary of Valentino’s death.

The Queen Mary

This luxury liner sailed between the United States and the United Kingdom between 1936 and 1967. It even transported American soldiers during World War II. Lots of weird paranormal stories have surfaced on the Queen Mary, causing some areas to be closed to visitors. One of the most famous stories tells of a boy who worked on the ship and was killed while fleeing from a fire in Engine Room 13. Sometimes the doorknob is still hot to the touch, and there are mysterious screams and noises from inside the room. A resident psychic claims he has even communicated with over 100 ghosts on the liner.

The Roosevelt Hotel

This Spanish-style hotel has been a favorite amongst the stars since it was built in 1927. Hundreds of famous figures have graced its halls. One of the hotel’s famous residents was Marilyn Monroe. She had a poolside suite reserved for lounging and even posed for one of her ads outside by the pool. Hotel guests believe that the ghost of Marilyn Monroe still lingers about. Some people have claimed seeing her reflection in a mirror at the hotel.

The Silent Movie Theater

For a long time, this was the most popular place in Los Angeles to watch silent films. It opened in 1942 and was shut down in 1970. Back in 1991, Laurence Austin reopened the theater to show vintage flicks and host private events. One night in 1997, Austin was murdered by a hitman because his young lover found out she would inherit $1,000,000. His ghost is still seen roaming the hallways and standing in the lobby of the Silent Movie Theater.

As you can see, there are lots of haunted places in Los Angeles. You can talk to a real psychic medium for more information about the area or take one of the many haunted tours.
