How to Stop Over-Analyzing Everything

At one point or another, everyone engages in over-analyzing. But some people find themselves trapped in this circular thought process far more often than most other people, which causes strain, stress, and frustration. If you find yourself consistently over-analyzing every little circumstance, follow these steps to break out of that unhealthy pattern.


Understand the Difference Between Processing and Over-Analyzing

Big decisions and difficult conversations require some time to process. You're not over-analyzing if you give yourself time to gauge your reaction and understand your emotions. But once you step outside of how you feel and start picking apart the situation, you've crossed into stressful territory. Decide how you feel and how you want to act, then move forward with the decision.


Stop Assuming

A very common thought process among over-analyzers is to assume things about situations and other people.
