Facebook Etiquette in the Workplace

June 16, 2021
Can you Facebook your work friends?
Can you Facebook your work friends?
No, we don't mean surfing the 'Book in the middle of the day (we see you, checking your messages - back to work!). What we mean is, is it appropriate to friend-request the people you work with on Facebook?

It's understandable that you might want to forge a more meaningful relationship with the people you work with. After all, you're with them for 40+ hours per week, and you more than likely hit the bar together on Friday evenings, too. If you ever leave the company, you'll want a way to stay in touch with the people who have become your friends during your time there. So should you search them out on Facebook? If you're friendly in real life, we say go for it - but be careful friend-requesting people who are in positions of authority over you.

Before you go finding everyone on Facebook, make sure that your own profile is squeaky clean. You don't want it filled with pictures of you drinking and partying, or - worse yet - status updates badmouthing your workplace. People can and have lost their jobs over violations like these, so if you want to become virtual friends with your real life colleagues, do so at your own risk.

For more advice, contact a psychic. Our gifted psychics can use their powers to see if friend-requesting is a good idea, or if it might land you in hot water.
