Katy Perry avoids filing divorce papers, asks Russell Brand to do the honors

Her charm, voice and looks turned heads throughout 2011, but as the year came to a close, Katy Perry looked glum upon announcing her divorce from comedian Russell Brand. As 2012 arrived, the singer and her husband confirmed that they would be splitting, despite having been married for more than a year.

FOX News is now reporting that Perry asked Brand to file the divorce papers and look like the bad guy in order to avoid upsetting her parents. The singer's parents are deeply religious, and Perry allegedly did not want to sadden them by being the one to ax the relationship.

Some may say that the celebrity marriage was destined to fail, with Brand openly being a recovering sex addict. Whatever the actual reasons were for the couple's decision, Perry may have been able to avoid the embarrassment by speaking to a live psychic.
