Got a job offer - or two?
In today's economy, having options when it comes to employment is truly a rich man's problem. Still, trying to decide between two job offers can sometimes feel almost as stressful as looking for a job in the first place. To make the right choice for you, weigh the pros and cons of each position until an answer seems clear.
No two jobs are exactly alike, and having options actually gives you some serious leverage. If one job is offering a higher salary, use that information to demand more money at the lower-paying position. If they really want you, they'll be willing to pay it, although they may look for a middle ground. Even if you can't guarantee exactly equal salaries, don't decide on money alone. If the lower-paying job is the one you feel you'll be happy at, take it. Your positive attitude is sure to advance you in the company, which means you could ultimately end up making much more than you would at the other job.
There are many other factors to consider, including hours, company atmosphere, ethics and dress code. Decide which aspects of a work environment are important to you, and pick the company that is a better fit with your personal beliefs and professional desires.
