Lessons from the Tarot - The Wheel of Fortune Card

The Wheel of Fortune card has various depictions depending upon the Tarot deck utilized.  The prominent feature of this tarot card is an eight spoked wheel.  The letters of the wheel spell ROTA – referring to the Royal Road of the Tarot.  The figure at the bottom of the wheel is Hermanubus who is known for keen insight.  The descending serpent on the left side of the card represents the earth and the sexual energy that arises from it. 

Within each corner of this Tarot card are usually winged creates holding open books.  These creatures - the Bull, the Lion, the Eagle, and Man correspond respectively to the zodiac signs of, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.  These figures depict passage through the various life cycles as the wheel turns. 

When the Wheel of Fortune card appears in your Tarot spread, it means that something is in motion and that the forces of destiny are acting upon you.  Now is the time to embrace your destiny since you’ll have little or no control of the pending outcome.  But fear not, this Tarot card generally indicates a favorable outcome is on your horizon and that things will run their due course.  Maybe you put things in motion knowingly or unknowingly – either way, the wheel is turning and good fortune is coming your way.  It could be in matters of career, romance or some other life changing experience.  Things will run their due course and balance in your life restored.   

When your Tarot spread reflects a reversed Wheel of Fortune card, it indicates that you are holding back on your own destiny through a refusal to make needed change.  You are refusing to set things in motion – causing stagnation in your life.
