Got Karma?
We’ve all heard people say “that’s bad karma” or “what goes around comes around” – we have even used those expressions ourselves on many occasions without much thought. But these common everyday expressions have deep roots in meaning and belief for millions of people throughout the world. For many, these statements represent a simplified form of the Law of Karma or the universal Law of Cause and Effect - where every action taken to achieve a result causes an effect. For example, if we sow goodness, we will reap goodness.
Are We Fated to a Certain Destiny?
Karma means to do, deeds, actions. Karma is the sum of all that we have done in the past, are currently doing in our present, and what we will do in the future. Some believe karma extends through one’s present life, and all past and future lives as well. That’s not to say that we are destined to live certain fates. For each of us acts with freewill in creating our own destiny. The effects of our actions however create experiences for which we are responsible – be it in this life or the next.
Karmic Energy
Karma as a metaphysical belief relates to energy. Karma is viewed as a force of nature incapable of judging good or evil, but interacts as positive and negative energy flows. Following the Law of Cause and Effect, our actions result in either positive or negative energy effects. For example, being sad or fearful is not bad or evil, but results in negative energy effects. Conversely, positive energy can be caused by being creative or solving problems.
