The Magician

Within the Tarot, the Magician is a powerful and complex symbol representing worldly wisdom and the ability to control unseen forces that affect human lives.  
 
The Magician card prominently features a male figure standing before an array of traditional magician’s tools usually a pentacle, a sword, a cup, and a wand.  These tools correspond to the suits of the Minor Arcana and represent the elements of nature - the pentacle is earth, the sword is air, the cup is water, and the wand is fire. The Magician stands with wand in hand as if reaching up to touch the heavens while the other hand points downward to earth.  Above his head is the symbol for infinity with a garden of roses, lilies and greenery at his feet. In totality, these symbols represent the Magician’s knowledge and ability for using his tools to properly connect the heavenly world with the physical world.   When the Magician appears in your Tarot spread it’s an indication of new beginnings and new choices.

The Magician card is primarily about self growth and development. When this Tarot card appears in a spread, it suggests that everything in the universe is placed before us to learn and properly manifest what we so desire.  The Magician shows us that we must learn to wisely use all of our abilities (body, mind, and spirit) to mediate between the heavenly world and the physical plane for we are affected by both simultaneously. This Tarot card suggests that we have the ability to control our own lives as long as we do so with good intentions. 

The Magician teaches us that the beginning point on each of our paths to spiritual enlightenment is to learn.  We must learn how, and what mode, method, or approach to use in order to reach our goals for our tools already exist within us.
